Actalent is currently hiring Controls & Automation Engineers in the Kansas City area. Qualified candidates must have hands on experience working with automated machinery and production equipment. The ability to program PLC's is highly preferred. Experience related to automation and electrical work is one of the most in demand skillsets in the market!
Description:
Designs, engineers, and provides technical support for the electrical aspect of manufactured equipment, which includes vacuum chamber machines, roll stock packaging machines, package labelers, and smokehouses.
- Collects data & feedback, evaluates, and designs new products and enhancements to existing products.
- Leads the efforts for product development, prototyping, testing, and product life cycle management (PLM).
- Develops the electrical and pneumatic schematics, electrical component specifications, and programs the PLCs, HMIs & other controllers.
- Creates design standards, specifications, engineering change notices, manuals, and work instructions to improve the assembly, operation, and maintenance of the products.
- Works with production and quality to address defective products, determine the root cause, and take corrective action.
- Provides technical support and troubleshooting for hardware and software issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering with 3 years’ experience in industrial product design.
- Experience programming PLC and HMI is a plus.
- AutoCAD electrical experience.
- Good understanding of Engineering Change Management within an ERP system.
