What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Technician position at Actalent?
Actalent is currently searching for a Controls Technician and Engineer to join a fast-paced exciting company.
Description:
• Strong working knowledge of electronics and electrical systems.
• Specifically, 480 VAC, 110 VAC & 24 VDC
• Must have working knowledge of the following topics: PH, flow, temperature, pressure, conductivity an mass measurements, AC and DC control methods, trouble shooting, VFD’s, smart meters, PLC/DCS control methods, automated systems, load cells, control valves, blueprint reading, mathematics, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
• Ability to properly install, wire and configure various instruments and control related devices.
• Ability to get into an HMI development software package to identify bits and pieces
• Knowledge of P&ID schematics and how to read them.
• Experience with PLC's is required, PLC5, SLC500, Compact/ControlLogix. (RSLogix5, 500, and 5000)
• Experience with Factory Talk View SE/ME

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• Familiarity with DeviceNet, ControlNet, Field Bus & Profibus communications networks.
• Familiar with HART configurator hand held terminal.
• Experience using Excel, Word and other common Microsoft Office Software’s.
• Provide customer support to diagnose customer systems breakdown.
• Work with other technical personnel to ensure proper installation practices for instrumentation and other controls devices as well as provide technical assistance in setting up and configuring these devices in the field.
• Identify and inform customers of field devices and control systems that are scheduled for obsolescence and inform customers as needed.
• Red-line and mark up existing P&ID’s and electrical schematics to ensure good As-Built drawings are completed.
• Lead instrument checkouts and factory acceptance testing as required.
• Team member must be able to work in a team oriented and safety conscious environment.
• “Safety First” expectation include, but are not limited to JHA process and compliance with all company/site safety guidelines and procedures
