What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Design Engineering III position at Actalent?
Description:
- This subfamily is responsible for planning engineering and designing electric and gas distribution systems.
- Determines need size location and timing of power delivery infrastructure development to balance economic environmental social and regulatory constraints and reliability needs.
- Duties may include work package development of overhead underground residential distribution and underground cable/conduit field engineering of project requirements identification of conflicting utilities engineering and design calculations and post-construction reviews.
Impact:
- Works independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables.
- Responsible for entire projects or processes within a technical area.
- Typically responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of lower level technical staff.
Complexity:
- Develops technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts deep analyses and understanding of impact on end-product/solution.
- Develops solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge.
Communication:
- Communicates with internal and client project team members.
- Works to influence team members regarding solution design process and/or approaches. Leadership Talent Management:
Skills:
- BS Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience is either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company performing design engineering for electric distribution.
- Experience with ESRI, AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD, MicroStation, and GIS is a plus.
- Familiarity with Pole Landing software (O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman) and SAP.
- Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with projects in distribution design: using medium voltage switchgear, voltage conversion projects, distribution automation projects.
- Experience with development of civil & electrical packages associated with complex cable/conduit in dense urban environments.
