Distribution Designer

Description:

Seeking candidates that have experience working within Drafting or Design for Utility scale projects focused on Distribution. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 year of recent distribution design experience or a solid foundation in AutoCAD. Florida Power & Light experience is highly preferred considering that is their primary client. They are currently supporting several different programs but this group of designers will be supporting the Lateral Underground program.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Essential Functions

-Review scope of work and produce engineering designs based on best practices, standards, and procedures

-Extract necessary information from provided survey data, inspection data, and existing municipal records.

-Update client GIS database

-Generate construction prints for crews to build designs

-Generate permit documentation based on municipality guidelines

-Generate Engineering documentation to support design choices

-On occasion, perform field visits to work sites to gather data with fleet vehicle

Additional Duties may include but not limited to

- Draft and prepare routine layouts based on construction standards and published design criteria, with oversight of a more senior Designer or Engineer.

- Create designs based on verbal and written instruction provided by more senior Designers or Engineers.

- Demonstrate expanding knowledge of engineering and design procedures, standards, and tools.

- Adhere to corporate site design standards.

- Field visits to determine site constraints for design

- Drafting permit documents for construction of design

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology. Must have a basic knowledge of structural components and design methods. Must be familiar with proper engineering layout techniques. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to develop and produce structural modification drawings and be accurate and detail oriented. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with detailed permitting. Familiarity with NERC & NESC guidelines Experience in the Power Distribution industry.
