Description:
*2-5 years of professional working experience***
*MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO OBTAINING AND MAINTAINING U.S. SECURITY CLEARANCE*
We have an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of new products for imaging systems and supported peripherals. The engineer will generate schematics of new electronic board designs, choose appropriate components for the bill of materials and review layouts to insure good design practices. Engineer may also need to generate code in microcontrollers using C. The Engineer will work within a small team of multi-disciplined engineers to ultimately deliver a final design product to the customer.
Interpret initial requirements to develop new design concepts
• Generate Schematics for the electronic board designs
• Select components for new board designs
• Ensure schematic and board layouts are compliant with component data sheets
• Oversee layouts of electronic board designs and ensure best practices are followed
• Embedded software or firmware code within FPGA using Verilog, VHDL, C preferred
• Assist other team members with troubleshooting and design
• Participate in design reviews of multi-discipline designs
• Assist team in generating new proposals
• Experience with embedded real time microprocessor systems
• Experience with design of Digital and power supply hardware
• Experience with imaging systems, particularly infrared and night vision a plus
• Other duties may be assigned. Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills Required:
• Active Security Clearance a plus
• Excellent communication skills with internal departments, external vendors, and customers
• Fast learner, driven problem solver.
• Outgoing personality, professional demeanor with excellent work ethic.
• A basic understanding and experience with following software would be advantageous:
• Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic, Microsoft Access, Infor VISUAL, other Microsoft Office tools including Project, Power Bi, and Visual Basic.
• Experience with optics and/or optical systems a plus
• Regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to walk.
• Occasional standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling required.
• Must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Able to work with a moderate level of noise.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English
Additional side notes:
• We now need an FPGA Programming, embedded programming, HW Design, Python higher level, embedded sw with support of python type of engineer
• They do not have an EE that can design a board.
o Similar to the Original JD but more FPGA Design focus
o generate schematics
o designing in Altium (Nice to have, any other designer tool is fine)
o Understanding of microcontroller programming (does not need to be an expert or proficient in this).
o board design
o Digital Design
o Same years of experience as prior JD. Not too strict about years of experience, more interested in capability of coming in and hitting the ground running.
Skills:
FPGA, Image processing, digital design, verilog, Microcontrollers, C, Python, FPGA Design, VHDL, Power supplies, Hardware design, Xilinx
Top Skills Details:
FPGA, Image processing,digital design,verilog,Microcontrollers,C,Python
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• Customer did a lot of 100 simulation systems 40 systems for combat airforce. They did industrial programs a few hundred. They have a new defense contract that is going to kick off and sucking up a ton of resources that will have to backfill. They have a few hundred systems and a ton of support for testing. This going to production and 10 thousand of units for this. Now that they are part of Lite Path and new technical road maps. He hopes for these to go into full production as well. They are highly customer focused on new specialty stuff. They are at this ramp up stage and grow very quickly!
• They are looking for someone who can do schematic capture. They do a lot of digital hardware design and power.
• They have multiple projects going on right now. They have IRAD and customer funded projects. One of the big efforts is government defense contract that is kicking off. This is a prototype that is being built. They have built two and the contract that is kicking off that is doing design verification and testing. This is a two year program. This is an imaging system and image processing and real time data processing. This is inside of the FPGA. They have two commercial programs that are internal and all of these are imaging systems. This core business is thermal imaging and integrating at the sensor level. They will buy a sensor from DRS, L3, BAE. They design and build all the electronics around it. The low level hardware and FPGA and all of the sensors and data processing as it interfaces to the customers. All of their focus is in Embedded Software. They do not really do customer facing software including GUI or web application/IoT. All of their stuff is embedded and directly in the hardware centric. When he says Software, he means Embedded Software.
