Description:
The Engineering Technician assists engineering personnel in the technical development, evaluation and testing of new product development of electronic motor controls. This technician sets up and performs electrical, environmental and agency testing to support engineering and design qualification of electronic motor controls. In addition, also supports activities to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment in the electronic lab.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work assignments with minimum supervision using established procedures and techniques
• Prepare test setups, conduct electrical, environmental, and agency tests
• Record Data and test results
• Ability to effectively use basic test instruments, e.g. digital volt meter, oscilloscope, etc
• Assemble prototypes and samples of electronic motor controls
• Ability to effectively use basic electro-mechanical hand tools
• Support electronic lab activities including test equipment calibration and maintain lab cleanliness
• Purchase electronic and mechanical components for lab inventory
• Purchase and maintain lab equipment
• Coordinate pallets with local warehouses
• Support the lab audit team to ensure a safe and efficient lab environment
• Coordinate international and domestic shipment of items to customers and suppliers
Qualifications:
• Associate of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (ASEET) or equivalent experience
• 1 to 3 years of technician experience in an electrical/electronics lab environment preferred
• Familiarity with electronic and mechanical components used in electronic assemblies preferred
• Familiarity with lab equipment like oscilloscope, power meter, chart recorder, etc preferred
• Have soldering skills to solder surface mount and through-hole electronic components preferred
• Familiarity/experience to safely operate hand tools and power tools preferred
• Familiarity in design and development of electronics for HVAC or appliance industries preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills are required
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to navigate Microsoft Office applications and learn other computer skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
* Does not need motor control experience or experience with motors in general, but that would be nice to have. Priority is experience working with developing and testing PCBs. Don't need schematic capture experience as that is above this position level.
