What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Level GIS Technician position at Actalent?
Actalent is actively seeking entry level technicians to assist with distribution utility projects. This position falls within the Distribution Engineering and Design Department of the organization.
• Technicians will support major distribution projects for the utility industry and will utilize ArcGIS
• Technicians will be responsible for closing out GIS work orders in ArcGIS
• Each project will include preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and ROW acquisition, development of BOM, estimating costs, etc.
• The utility is upgrading their distribution infrastructure and the engineering firm has the contract to provide the GIS support
All projects will be related to electric power distribution - related to primary, secondary and major projects.
Role will be mostly in the field with some remote work. Will be viewing as builts to make sure that the data matches what is shown in the GIS system
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in GIS related field is required (environmental, geography, natural resources, urban planning, geology, or forestry, etc.)
• 0-1 year of GIS experience (this can include internships)
• Experience with ArcGIS is required
• Must be comfortable in a field setting
