Description:
This chemist will sit onsite at a client location in Fishers providing support for various waste functions. This candidate will work a Monday through Friday 1st shift schedule providing support for waste collection, disposal, and classification. This person will work alongside the onsite project manager. The individual will be onsite with the client gathering material/non-volatile chemicals from various departments and preparing the chemicals to be transported/disposed of. They will collect and segregate chemicals and prepare to be shipped back to the plant. Individuals will also be responsible for Manifest Documentation, Labeling, Preparing material for safe transport and removal of said material.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Assist in the segregation of chemicals by hazard class;
•Assist in chemical waste collection and waste clean up. Assess any hazardous waste or environmental issues.
•Packing compatible materials in appropriate containers and preparing for transportation
•Completes necessary paperwork and documentation per job.
• Completes categorization of chemicals and performs lab pack services.
• Assists in characterizing materials at client site.
• Follows proper placarding and load segregation requirements for hazardous materials.
• Develop good client relations by effectively communicating with various departments/leaders.
• Introductory knowledge of high hazard materials management /assessment and cylinder handling.
Qualifications:
Must Haves:
1) Bachelors Degree in Life Sciences (strong chemistry experience)
2) Effective communication skills, as this is a client facing role
3) Desire to work in environmental industry
4) Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Nice to Have:
1) 40 Hour Hazwoper
2) Other environmental certifications
