What are the responsibilities and job description for the Excavting Estimator position at Actalent?
Description:
- Meet with existing and new clients for excavation projects
- Analyze plans & digitize with estimating software
- Regularly visit jobsites and look to verify what is on the existing plans is correct (progress reporting)
- Decide which subcontractors to have bid and which dumps, quarries, etc.
- Put together how many hours it will take and the loads
- Prepare contracts
- Review bids with Vice President
- Follow up with the Client to explain the scope and answer any questions
- After contract is awarded document and submit extras to the client
- Compile and submit invoices
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 2 years of experience working for a general contractor, earthwork/excavating contractor, or related construction experience
- Experience with excavating projects, specifically on the Estimating/Sales side
- Ability to travel around the Chicagoland area for projects/site-visits
- Experience with a construction/estimating software
