Position Purpose:
The Field Engineer position is responsible for supporting the activities of a construction project site in order to ensure projects meet goals related to schedule and budget.
- Assist Site Superintendent in directing personnel and sub-contractors engaged in planning and executing construction project work.
- Interpret specifications and coordinate various phases of the construction process to ensure goals are met related to schedule and budget.
- Provide knowledge in the areas of electrical, mechanical, structural, civil, and QA/AC. Troubleshoot and answer questions throughout all areas and phases of construction.
- Manage and adjust schedules and material usage as necessary.
- Coordinate with Project Manager and PM Associate to issue purchase orders for all consumables, equipment and outside sub-contractors. Oversee the procurement and delivery of tools, equipment, and materials to ensure continuous project workflow.
- Serve as representative and field liaison with project staff. Ensure proper flow of communication and issue resolution.
- Evaluate and document all change orders between and subcontractors as well as from to owner.
- Continually inspect subcontractor work to ensure project is completed in accordance with design, specifications, schedule, and safety.
- Prepare and review reports that provide information about work progress, material usage, and costs incurred.
- Communicate with project manager regarding day to day activities of the project site.
- Assist Site Superintendent in advising management of potential project problems and assist in resolution.
