What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Laborer position at Actalent?
Actalent is seeking an individual who is willing to work hard and eager to learn more and grow within land surveying!
Description:
- Using electronic equipment to mark up (designate) under ground utilities then there can be anywhere from 1-50 different spots where the client will need us to actually dig down to verify the utility.
- In order to dig down to it we use a jack hammer (if its under asphalt or concrete) then we use an air lance which is hooked to a large air compressor and it shoots high pressure air through it to break up the dirt.
- We then use a vacuum system to suck up the dirt so that we are left with a perhaps 2’ wide hole all the way down to the top of the utility (usually only around 5-6 feet) so that we can get an accurate elevation of the top of the utility and verify the size and type of it.
- There is also survey work involved because after the holes are dug they the utility needs elevated and located.
