Description:
In this role, the individual should have the skills to manage field surveying work such as ALTA, topographic, boundary, construction stakeout, horizontal/vertical control, utility asbuilts and GPS. The individual we are seeking is an energetic, adaptable and solution-oriented person who possesses at least 4 years of field survey experience and at least 2 years of experience as a Party Chief. This person will be able to follow instructions but also be able to think independently. Candidates must be proficient with data collectors and data collection techniques, conventional field notes and sketches, total stations, robots.
Responsibilities: As a Survey Crew Chief, you will ...
- Monitor projects from initiation through delivery, interfacing with clients and staff on technical matters
- Work within defined project scopes and budgets
- Collaborate with project team members, to include other licensed surveyors, engineers, and technical and survey staff
- Review the results of field surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features and structures
- Verify the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
- Ensure Safety and Health are the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes. Acting safely at all times
- Participate in or conduct and document safety meetings with the crew daily. Host or assist with morning safety meetings. Bring safety and proper working procedure topics up as reminders and ensure all workers are comfortable with the tasks assigned to them by reviewing their day plan
- Mentor less experienced employees and train them in proper company standards as well as ensure more experienced employees are helping to mentor green workers in proper company standards
- Maintains digital files on assigned computer equipment to assure use of correct and current data files

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Four years of land surveying experience required.
- Knowledge in use of GPS and electronic data collectors and monitors.
- Proficient in OSHA/Safety regulations.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift 75 lbs. Mental and physical labors are a part of this job.
