What are the responsibilities and job description for the (Overnight) Lab Accessioner position at Actalent?
Description:
• Receives specimens from courier services and enters acknowledgement into the appropriate LIS.
• Maintains specimen inventory.
• Disposes of specimens as necessary and in accordance with tissue disposal policies and hazardous waste disposal policies.
• Other duties as assigned by the Accessioning Supervisor and/or Accessioning Manager
• Enter the related patient information, testing information and insurance information into the LIS
• Aligns specimens on trays with appropriate cassettes for grossing personnel.
• Shelves and stores specimens in numerical order, in accordance with standards and the operational policies and procedures.
• Retrieves specimens, slides or blocks for pathologists as required.
• Scan requisition form into LIS system.
• Prepare correct type and number of cassettes necessary for each specimen using automated cassette labeler.
• Support women's health cytology department
• utilize medical terminology to correctly document accessioned samples
