We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and hands-on Organic Chemist to join our team. Strong knowledge of organic chemistry and chemical synthesis is a must, including the use of NMR, mass spectrometry, and other analytical methods for the characterization of reaction products. A familiarity with protein chemistry would be a further advantage.
Day to day responsibilities
To develop and optimize synthetic methods for both small molecules and hemoglobin derivatives, purify and characterize the reaction products using appropriate purification methods and analytical equipment, you will:
Design and carry out reactions to prepare organic compounds of interest, including the purification and analytical methods needed to isolate and characterize reaction products
Prepare written documentation of experimental procedures and results
Help establish quality control protocols and solve problems routinely encountered in the laboratory
Education, Experience and Knowledge Requirements
A PhD in organic chemistry and 0-5 years of experience or MS in organic chemistry and 3-10 years of experience in organic synthesis
Some experience with chemical modifications of proteins or antibody-drug conjugates would be additionally useful
Experience with the following equipment: NMR, mass spectrometry, IR, HPLC, UV-Visible spectrophotometer. Additional experience with gel electrophoresis, FPLC, Ultrafiltration and Diafiltration, LCMS would be useful
Ability to write and communicate succinctly and concisely
Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced, team environment and self-driven
This position is a full-time, hands-on laboratory opportunity (not remote) located in Thousand Oaks, CA.
