What are the responsibilities and job description for the PLC Programmer position at Actalent?
Description:
The PLC Programmer is responsible for the design, configuration and integration of complex control systems. Additionally, the PLC Programmer will provide setup and startup of hardware and software for the PLC, variable frequency drives, control and communications networks and other miscellaneous electrical hardware and software. This position will be a mix of working remotely and traveling to various customers sites in the Central and Eastern PA areas.
Responsibilities:
· Create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation, testing and start-up
· System monitoring, debugging and troubleshooting operational problems
· Specify, design and build programs to be installed on the equipment
· Select and configure other automation devices, such as VFDs for automation/control
· Modify existing programs from customer requirements
· Provide guidance to Field Service in programming, repair, installation and maintenance of PLC systems
· Provide technical support in developing and improving processes
· Performs other duties as required
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; will consider AS Degree with additional experience
- 2-5 years of experience is preferred; at least one year of professional experience is required
- Proficient within PLC/HMI programming from scratch
- SCADA is a plus
- Wastewater experience is a plus
