Product Engineer

Description:

The product engineer performs engineering duties in documenting performance of products sold by company that are used to join natural gas distribution piping. Collaborate with President to develop engineering systems to clearly communicate the product capabilities, features, test results and compliance with industry performance standards as well as company standards, particularly ease of manufacturability and functional margin of safety above industry minimum requirements. Design new products within established line.

Tasks

• Test, document and evaluate mechanical products to verify they meet functional requirements, company guidelines for quality and manufacturability and determine margin of safety.

• Develop and document systems for engineering program including guidelines for product design, testing requirements, recording and indexing test results, R&D, etc.

• Organize engineering information for ease of retrieval to aid and simplify communication with the variety of audiences needing or requesting engineering data.

• Maintain project tracking documents to journal and prioritize projects, tasks and assignments.

• Retrieve engineering data, test results, compliance reports, etc. in support of company sales and customer service personnel.

• Use standardized drafting tools/concepts and computer-assisted design (CAD) software to document current and new family of company products.

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering

• Dependable and reliable to work our scheduled hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm at the facility

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

• Ability to work standing for 4 to 8 hours daily

• Strong English communication skills—both verbal and written

• Team player

• Open-minded thinking and ability to be coached to follow our standards, systems and standard work. This includes following our safety standards and protocols including wearing a mask while on-site.

Mechanical Design — Knowledge of mechanical design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical drawings, and models that meet company criteria for margin of safety, robustness and compliance with applicable industry standards or Federal regulation.

Testing and Validating Designs — Working knowledge of design validation by physical testing per industry standards and company design philosophy, policies and parameters.

Production and Processing — Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for the effective manufacture of goods.

English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Complex Problem Solving — Identifies complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement systemic solutions.

Critical Thinking — Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
