What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pump Shop Foreman position at Actalent?
Overview:
The Pump Shop Foreman provides leadership and direction within the Chesapeake Facility. The Foreman oversees production to meet all safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals set forth from Senior Management. This position reports directly to the Pump Division Manager.
Job Description:
- Direct oversight of 10-20 shop employees, to include machinists, mechanics, and apprentices to include, but not limited to, daily employee task delegation, consistent and fair enforcement of company policies, coaching, recognition, and disciplinary needs that arise.
- Oversee all shop work to anticipate, detect, and address issues that impede production.
- Enforce safety regulations and protocols across the department.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for all direct reports.
- Coordinate interdepartmentally daily to meet production goals and delivery dates set forth by Senior Management.
- Work cross-functionally to resolve issues, drive process improvement, and cost savings efforts.
- Meet with management regularly to deliver feedback and develop work optimization strategies.
- Implement strategies to optimize workflow and operational efficiency.
- Ensure that all equipment and machinery are properly operated and maintained.
- Partner with the Human Resources department to relay any personnel information.
- Be accessible to all direct reports and upper management while jobs are in progress (including night/weekend availability).
- Aid Project Managers in setting reasonable task time limits.
- Attend daily/weekly production meetings - relay/follow up on pertinent info regarding company shared resources.
- Maintain/distribute appropriate job cards/forms when applicable.
- Review final shop job packets before shipment, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor all active jobs regularly to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion.
- Drive a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization.
- Job specific parts/material procurement.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
- Proven ability to drive production in a fast-paced repair/manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role in an equivalent environment.
- Proficiency in MS outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements for position, including but not limited to ability to be on feet for an extended period, bend/stoop/kneel as needed, use of both hands, and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
