What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchaser position at Actalent?
The Purchaser will be responsible for securing initial and final pricing quotes for materials needed on commercial plumbing jobs striving for competitive pricing and will negotiate for materials as applicable. This position will process all necessary purchase orders, keep accurate documentation, and order materials to ensure receipt within the timelines needed for each project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purchasing:
· Completes initial ordering/purchasing of materials based on list of materials and purchase orders
· Works collaboratively with Project Managers to ensure all materials are delivered within the timelines needed paying particular attention to 'tag and hold' items
· Uses the 'submittal sheet' to process purchase orders, enters into computerized purchasing system
· Resolves billing, shipping, and material errors or problems
· Works with VP of Operations to setup new stock inventory items in the computerized system
· Tracks back orders, returns, credits, defective materials
· Maintains and enhances strong partnerships with existing suppliers and other vendors striving for competitive pricing, quality products, and accurate delivery
· Negotiates purchasing contracts at the best price advantage to the Company
· Assists in evaluating new and existing suppliers and understands the nuances of securing materials from select vendors
· Assists Project Managers with other general purchases as needed, as well as other areas of the Company, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training
· A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business Management or related field preferred
Experience
· Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible Purchasing experience, preferably in commercial construction or other related field
· Prior inventory management experience helpful
· Prior experience working with vendors, suppliers and others creating solid working relationships and securing competitive pricing and service
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, internet and email systems experience working with inventory management software helpful
