What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer position at Actalent?
Description:
Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Production Management, and Production Associates, to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
Facilitate and promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources.
Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerancing, and materials related issues.
Provide support for updating, auditing, and maintaining the ISO Quality Management System.
Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques
Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes.
Review and analyze results with Kennametal’s Engineering team.
Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness.
Collaborate with Kennametal’s, Customers’, Quality, and Engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability as it related to product quality.
Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost-effective production.
Support & Lead PPAP efforts and lead product launches to meet customer requirements.
Establish and Maintain Control Plans and FMEA's throughout the life of the part.
Participate in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Lead PPM improvement plan for strategic customers.
Day to day-
Handling metrology
Gaging perspective throughout plant
Managing calibration- not actually calibrating
Perform programming- vision measurement system
Managing calibration
Working on a programming for measurement
Measuring quality issues
Root cause analysis
Working on defect issues
Working directly with operators
Spending more than 50% on the shop floor
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Must haves-
Bachelor's degree
Previous manufacturing experience
Previously quality experience
