What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Manager position at Actalent?
Actalent is seeking an R&D manager for a well respected company in the Aurora area. The candidate needs to have a strong technical expertise in synthetic chemist and process chemistry in a large scale manufacturing environment. As well, the candidate will have experience leading a team of process chemists and manage client projects.
Description:
Must Have: 5 years experience in process/synthetic chemistry in large scale pharma/industrial lab
Must Have: leadership experience in a laboratory stetting
Must Have: project management in R&D environment
Contributing to the evaluation of new inquiries, e.g., R & D cost and resource estimates
Developing process research project plans, in collaboration with other departments
Collaborating with other R & D Managers in allocating project resources, e.g., lab space, equipment, and staff
Leading staff management activities from recruitment through to performance appraisal management and staff development
Coordinating multi-functional project teams, and facilitating the resolution of outstanding issues
Fulfilling a point-of-contact role for clients on scientific matters related to research projects
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry or a relatable field
Post-graduate industrial, or academic experience with synthetic organic chemistry, preferably in a GMP setting
Leadership and project management experience—preferably at a pharmaceutical or fine chemical company, is considered an asset
Expertise in project management methodologies and applications
