What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specimen Processor position at Actalent?
Description:
1. Operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of histology instrumentation, including the slide stainer, slide printer and tissue processors.
2. Accessioning tissue specimens into the Cerner laboratory system.
3. Pickup of specimens from the specimen procurement areas.
4. Verification of tasks for histology lab, including ensuring that the grossing logs and specimen blocks are maintained.
5. Removal of paraffin from blocks prior to microtomy.
6. Labeling and distribution of slides to pathologists.
7. Verification of performed tasks in Cerner and on maintenance sheets.
8. Filing of slides and blocks for the AP section, as needed.
9. Clerical duties as assigned
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
A degree in a science discipline is required.
- Experience in a hospital system in the following departments: cytology, histology or pathology ( preferred)
- Vaccine is required
- 6 months to 1 year of experience as a specimen processor is preferred
- experience in CLIA environment preferred
