Overview:
We are currently seeking a Sr. Materials Engineer to join our client in Chesapeake, VA. The Senior Materials Engineer is responsible for working on new product development, validations and monitors daily quality and engineering duties.
Description:
- Develops Polymer formulation.
- Operates polymer processing equipment such as extrusion, injection molding, and 3D printing.
- Leads the commercialization of new products working with suppliers and customers.
- Guides new product and process qualifications for medical applications.
- Completes test method validations.
- Monitors the production process, identifies, and implements improvements.
- Manages equipment designs and improvement projects from concept to installation and verification.
- Provides complex statistical analysis of data using Six Sigma methodologies.
- Troubleshoots production and lab equipment issues and implements corrective actions.
- Write complex procedures and quality programs.
- Mentors’ employees and teammates.
- Assess regulatory requirements to implement proactive programs to ensure compliance.
- Implements of preventive actions to reduce quality or safety risks.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering. (MS Degree preferred)
- 5 years of relevant experience.
- Read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
- Make persuasive presentations on complex topics to management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
- Apply logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Prior polymer and compounds experience is highly desired. Examples of polymers and compounds could be:
- Polyethylene
- Polyproprylene
- Polystyrene
- Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE)
- Polycarbonate (PC)
- ABS
- Polyester (PBT)
- Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA)
- Specialty Compounds (CR)
- Fluoropolymer (FP)
- Flame Retardant
- Styrene block copolymers (SBS)
