Job Description
The primary role of this position is CAD drafting of transmission line centerline right-of-way, boundary, topographic, and land tie surveys. This position will be responsible for interpreting and writing “metes and bounds” or “centerline” descriptions for assigned projects. This position will support the survey field crews and office personnel by, but not limited to, researching existing survey and real estate records, contacting local and state agencies for right-of-way information, and transmitting completed projects.
Education Requirements
CAD Certificate or graduation from a vocational or technical school with a related degree indicating proficiency in CAD is preferred.
Experience Requirements
Two or more years of work-related CAD experience in a survey environment is required CAD experience within the electric utility industry is highly preferred
Strong analytical and computer skills are required
Experience in reading survey related maps is required
Experience in reading and writing legal descriptions is required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficiency in Computer Aided Drafting is required
Two or more years of AutoCad experience is preferred
Must have the ability to learn specialized survey application programs
Must be able to reproduce legal descriptions in CAD
Must have the ability to read survey related maps and perform mathematical calculations
Must be proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Must be able to perform in a team environment with multiple projects
Knowledge of surveying practices and procedures is preferred
GIS experience using ArcGIS is desirable
