Responsibilities
Our Lead Drivers – Adult Day Center / Shuttle Drivers, Special Needs have responsibilities including but not limited to:
Conduct regular vehicle inspections and follow prescribed maintenance and fueling schedule; confirm wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are operating properly. Resolve mechanical or safety concerns and repair or service needs as they occur. Maintain vehicle cleanliness: Our vehicles must be in safe running order to carry our precious members!
- Routinely exchange recommendations and insight with co-workers to ensure best practices for accommodating unique needs of members during on-boarding, off-boarding and transport.
- Assist with developing efficient, scheduled routes and oversee safe transport of all members in a timely manner.
- Assist transportation coordinator and/or Center Director as needed in identifying and implementing operational efficiencies to enhance the member experience.
- Provide job-related training in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Assist members with on- and off-boarding and with any special needs during transport.
- Ensuring all members are in their seats safely and securely: seat belts are fastened and if in a wheelchair, they are securely fastened.

Qualifications
Our Lead Drivers – Adult Day Center / Shuttle Drivers, Special Needs must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- One year prior driving experience in a professional environment strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and state/vehicle-specific driver credentials.
- This is a physical job, after all we are ACTIVE Day! As a result you will need to be able to:
- Push, pull, bend, squat, turn, pivot, transfer and lift at least 50 pounds
- Repeatedly exit and enter the vehicle to assist members with on- and off-boarding.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred.
- Able to pass required physical exams including Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
- Successful results of background check, motor vehicle report, drug testing and any other state-specific requirements.
