What Success Looks Like In This Job
Volunteers will shadow Victim Advocates as they provide direct services to crime victims.
Volunteers will have opportunities to attend Court.
Volunteers may also assist with administrative duties and/ or other Victim Witness Services Unit needs.
We are seeking a volunteer Victim Witness Specialist for our Broomfield location.
Examples of Duties for Success
Essential duties include but are not limited to: providing victims with support, information and assistance regarding the criminal justice system, accompanying victims to court (when deemed ready to do so).
Other duties include data entry, filing, answering phones, and assisting Victim Witness Services Unit team members as determined necessary.
Qualifications for Success
Must be at least 21 years of age and pass an interview and criminal background check satisfactorily. Be willing to provide a time commitment of 16 hours a week for at least 6 (six) months. Attend a 40 hour Victim Advocate Training Academy prior to direct victim contact. Previous experience and training maybe considered toward 40 hour basic training requirement. Attendance to monthly in-service training is also required.
More Qualifications for Success
No experience necessary. No weekends or evenings involved, with the exception of the initial 40 hour basic training. Bilingual is helpful but not required.
