The Adams County Sheriff's Office is looking for an HR Recruiting Specialist to join our HR Team! The ideal candidate will be a people person with great customer service skills and a recruiting background. They'll also be detail-oriented, able to keep applicants and hiring managers engaged through an in-depth hiring process, and willing to think outside of the box to fill positions with top-notch people.

Summary:
Performs a variety of complex technical and administrative duties related to posting job announcements and screening applications selecting qualified candidates. Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials. Assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with supervisors, command staff and other stakeholders.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Review and update job descriptions to reflect, essential duties, minimum qualifications and physical requirements.
  • Prepare and post job internal/external announcements in compliance with Colorado Equal Pay Equal Work Act.
  • Track and measure the efficacy of recruitment and selection practices and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Collect and screen applicants based on outlined minimum job requirements. Provide timely notification to applicants regarding specific phases of the selection process.
  • Serve as applicant tracking subject matter expert, staying current with platform enhancements.
  • Schedule test sites, time of examination, and ensure security of test materials.
  • Conduct skills assessment testing, administer and score written exams. Document results; to support if applicant will continue or is discontinued for the next phase of the hiring process.
  • Verify test scores, collect test materials and establish position eligibility lists.
  • Maintain applicant testing scores and oral board records following approved record retention guidelines.
  • Provide candidate service and support, guiding applicants through the process and responding to inquiries.
  • Retrieve applicant information from job line and mail out applications.
  • Coordinate internal and external oral boards including inviting oral board panel members, reviewing oral board questions and preparation of the oral board interview forms and scoring sheets.
  • Participate and/or attend oral board interviews to ensure compliance with employment laws and hiring practices.
  • Establish eligibility list(s) and prioritize applicant ranking order for background investigation processing.
  • Respond to requests for information and assistance from employees, management, outside agencies and the public.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements for the selection process to improve the operational efficiency and maintain compliance with various employment laws.
  • Manage vendor contracts including invoicing, service delivery and execution.
  • Interpret Human Resources policies and procedures applicable to job assignment.
  • Compile data and prepare reports for Human Resources related activities and presentations.
  • Carry out associated administrative duties such as filing, scanning, and document maintenance.
  • Inventory and submit order for promotional items used in recruiting.
  • Update Sheriff’s Office website with new position information and salary changes.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge or current and anticipate recruitment techniques and strategies.
  • Knowledge of best practices for applicant screening and selection, including relevant employment laws.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to effectively handle multiple assignments.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to converse effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality beyond the normal scope of employmentrequirements

Minimum Requirements: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Preference for proficiency in use of NEOGOV.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive working relationships with those contacted during work.
  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible recruitment, communications, human resource experience with a minimum of one (1) year of experience assessing talent as it pertains to organizational need.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Human Resources, Organizational Development or a closely related field is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,047.48 - $67,266.47 per year
