The Software Analyst will be tasked with managing and organizing data into a format that can be easily analyzed.
What your average day might entail:
- Evaluate commercial software in the areas of ERP, CAD, CAE, database, and web applications to meet business needs. If not available, propose and create a software solution.
- Apply generally accepted programming standards and techniques to assure efficient program logic and data manipulation.
- Monitor and maintain database tables, indexes, and perform optimization tuning to these entities.
- Plan and execute software version upgrade releases and design custom interfaces per user requirements.
- Work with others to develop alternative system and software designs.
- Assist users having problems with use of specialized system software.
- Train users.
- Review computer system capabilities, workflow and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change is possible within existing system.
- Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop new systems to improve production or workflow as required.
- Upgrade software and correct errors to maintain the software after implementation.
- Confer with users regarding the nature of the information processed or computation needs a computer program should address.
- Plan, execute, and oversee implementations, testing and upgrades of business systems, data formatting, file conversion and transfer.
- Analyze system software capabilities to assist management in fully utilizing such capabilities to help the organization achieve goals.
- Arrange project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements; preparing a work flow chart and diagram using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming language, and logic.
- Develop and analyze functional specifications.
Experience minimum of 3 years:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Supply Chain (Master's degree is a plus)
- Expert in SQL
- Excellent analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports
- Expertise in using advance level calculations on the data sets
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
- Knowledgeable of statistical methods such as regression, probability analysis, risk analysis, statistical process control, and clustering is desired
- Able to implement row level security on data and understand application security layer models
- Data and business analysis background
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with BI technologies (ex., Microsoft Power BI, AWS Quicksight, Qlikview)
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages (ex: Python, R, JavaScript, C#, Java, etc.)
