The Executive Director of Prairie Rivers of Iowa will be responsible for executive management and oversight to ensure the financial and operational sustainability of the organization and its programs.
Prairie Rivers of Iowa Resource Conservation and Development is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, founded in 1999. The headquarters is in Ames, Iowa. The organization’s mission is to promote economic development through the restoration and conservation of Iowa’s cultural and natural resources. Job Duties:
Fundraising and Financial Management
- Oversee day-to-day financial matters of the organization, including budget development and adherence and all necessary tax and legal reporting
- Organize and administer a comprehensive fundraising and donor relations program
- Lead grant application process, working with staff in application, administration, and reporting
Organizational Management and Operations
- Collaborate with high-performing team members focused on managing programs in their field
- Monitor company operations and ensure resources are secured for staff productivity
- Communicate in a consistent, transparent way with the Board of Directors on all matters that advance the mission of the organization
Relationships, Partnerships, and Communications
- Clearly communicate the organization’s mission and messages to the community, supporters, participants, and donors.
- Create, build, and sustain relationships with partner organizations, supporters, businesses, and environmental agencies
- Cultivate new and maintain existing relationships with financial supporters, including individuals, private foundations, and government agencies, paying particular attention to cultivating new major donors
Qualifications:
The successful candidate
- Understands and supports the organization’s mission and programs
- Is familiar with best practices in nonprofit management; preferably has experience managing a nonprofit organization
- Has substantial fundraising experience, preferably within the non-profit sector
- Has experience in building donor relationships, fundraising activities, grant writing, and financial management
- Has exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen well, build trust, and work effectively with diverse individuals
- Holds an undergraduate degree; work experience may substitute
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Preferably has experience in Quick Books, Constant Contact, and Little Green Light or other donor development software
