Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to lawyers and enhance office effectiveness. Legal office experience is a MUST.
Duties:
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for attorneys
- Assist in preparing legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and other legal forms
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic filing systems
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and maintain attorney calendars
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Perform clerical tasks, including data entry, copying, scanning, and faxing
Skills:
- Proficiency in legal terminology and procedures
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw or iManage
- Knowledge of administrative duties in a legal setting
- Knowledge of Microsoft
