What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respite Worker position at Adelbrook, Inc.?
Community Respite Workers work to maintain the safety and support of individuals during 24-hour out-of-home weekend respite care in a comfortable home-like environment while ensuring that they participate in a variety of activities. This is a part-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Community Respite House Manager. The Counselor’s schedule will include Saturdays and/or Sundays. This is an hourly (non-exempt), essential position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· To establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with individuals to facilitate a safe, enjoyable, and interactive experience while in out-of-home respite care.
· Provide positive reinforcement for all appropriate behaviors, social interactions and learning and provides effective corrective feedback as needed.
· Support learning and safety via leading by example – being a good role model in each interaction with individual/families and all staff as well as in the community.
· Implementation of the daily activity schedule and individual programming throughout the shift. This includes life skills and leisure/recreational activities. These job duties may include working with individuals of the opposite gender.
· Assist with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including but not limited to meal prep, bathing, toileting, etc.
· Community respite counselors will ensure safety for everyone in the environment by being prepared and able to implement therapeutic crisis interventions to include hands-on physical interventions (PMT) as required.
· Complete required reports in a clear, concise writing style by the end of shift.
· Work in collaboration with the programs house manager(s) and agency staff to maintain a clean, safe environment including individual(s) and agency property.
· Obtain and maintain the required training, certifications, and driver’s license with a good driving record.
· Follow agency policy and procedures, work scheduled shifts, and provide coverage as determined essential by the manager. Perform other duties as assigned.
· Comply with the Individualized Emergency Intervention or Crisis Plan at all times as well as all house and individual(s) specific required documentation.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $17.25 per hour
