The Staff Sonographer provides noninvasive vascular/cardiac testing using ultrasound skills and other noninvasive testing modalities knowledge. This individual collaborates with customers to assure quality testing. The incumbent has access to confidential information and makes decisions independently and in collaboration with customers. This individual works under the direct supervision of the manager. Provides services at multiple sites as needed. Rotates through call, weekends and holidays.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs noninvasive vascular and cardiac testing according to protocols which includes carotid ultrasound, PVR, segmental pressures, TCPO2, TEE resting echoes, stress echoes (dobutamine and treadmill), venous and arterial ultrasound.
- Interprets and documents procedures and reports according to protocols.
- Communicates preliminary and final reports.
- Maintains accurate patient files.
- Maintains equipment and clean work area.
- Provides assistance in training students and new employees.
- Maintains CEUs and provides information as required by the accreditation bodies for the lab.
- Contributes to the ongoing improvement processes within the department.
Minimum/Required Qualifications and Experience
- Registry eligible; have passed Physics board through ARDMS.
- RDCS or RVT – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) credential upon hire. If not registered upon hire, must be registered in both echo and vascular within one year of graduation per accreditation guidelines.
