What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Technician position at Adient?
This position is for a Maintenance-Automation Technician with demonstrated skills and knowledge in controls, robotics, and automation. This Maintenance-Automation Technician will generally have some Maintenance Technician responsibilities with additional responsibilities as the Primary Responder to any machinery issues requiring advanced level skills in automation and controls to address. This position will also work closely with the plant Controls Engineer on projects and troubleshooting of PLCs, Robotics and Automation.
One position on afternoon shift and one position on midnight shift.
Skills Required
· Ability to use a laptop to connect to and monitor PLC programming for the purpose of troubleshooting machinery function issues.
· Ability to manually operate industrial robotics to address machinery stoppages. Familiarity with 6 axis industrial robotics.
· Ability to read complex industrial controls wiring diagrams and use these with a multi-meter to troubleshoot issues.
· Familiarity with variable speed drives, setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
· Well versed in standard 480 VAC 3-phase power and wiring.
· Working knowledge of instrumentation and common control devices used in industrial machinery.
· Ability to bend and install conduit, pull and terminate industrial machinery wiring from prints.
· Working knowledge of hydraulic systems and how to repair and maintain them.
· Working knowledge of pneumatic systems and how to repair and maintain them.
· Working knowledge of pump systems, how to repair and maintain them.
· General mechanical systems knowledge, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.
· Basic Industrial Electricity skills.
Specific Skills desired:
· Familiarity/Experience with Siemens PLC logic using Step7 and/or TIA portal software.
· Familiarity/Experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix PLC’s
· Familiarity/Experience with Fanuc Robotics
· Familiarity/Experience with Siemens Profinet
· Familiarity/Experience with Industrial Ethernet Networking
· Good working knowledge of high performance (Vector) AC drives.
· Knowledge of chemical process control systems.
· Knowledge of servo systems (Allen Bradley Kinetix a Plus
· Authority to stop production in the event unsafe parts or conditions appear.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor and/or Manager, which may be outside the scope of responsibilities noted above.
