The Adirondack North Country Sports Council is the organizing committee for the upcoming FISU World University Winter Games in beautiful Lake Placid during January 2023! We also organize various multi-sport events in the local area. It is an exciting time to join our TEAM!
Job Summary:
The Business Operations Manager will oversee the development of office space(s) and ensure the office locations operate efficiently and smoothly. Upon completion of the primary office location build-out, the other office location will be substantially phased down in scope until Games-time. In addition, this person will provide administrative duties for our office(s) as outlined below.
Engagement Period: ASAP until 3/31/23
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Liaison with construction company on completion of Headquarters buildout in consultation with the Executive Director and Director of Administration.
- Organize office operations and procedures in consultation with Council leadership.
- Perform receptionist duties, as needed, including greeting visitors and scheduling meetings.
- Maintain inventory of office supplies; order new supplies as needed (general office and break room).
- Obtain and distribute incoming mail and deliveries and manage outgoing mail and packages.
- Assist with office layout planning and office moves.
- Identify opportunities for process and office management improvements.
- Coordinate and oversee all office property maintenance including office cleaning, recycling, waste removal, office equipment leases and repairs, and insure outside premises are accessible to all staff and visitors (to include managing the relationships with related vendors and service providers, which may specifically include, but is not limited to, the procurement, placement, maintenance, and eventual removal, of a portable restroom).
- Coordinate with and assist the IT department with all IT office equipment.
- Manage any airborne illness (i.e. Covid) protocols mandated by leadership (i.e. – purchase and distribute masks, source and distribute hand sanitizer, help organize required separation between staff, oversee temperature checks and maintain relevant records, create and display indoor signage).
- Oversee other ‘office support’ staff as assigned.
- Assist, as directed, with any Games-time office conversions / reconfigurations.
- Perform local related-duty errands as directed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Must have exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Demonstrated good judgment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Must be a self-starter and driven.
- Knowledge / Experience in multiple administrative areas (for example, Accounting, HR, or IT) a plus.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in office administration or related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of work experience in an administrative/multi-site office management role.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Could include need to spend short periods of time outdoors in harsh winter weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must have clean and valid driver’s license and vehicle to perform business related errands within area of local offices and sporting venues.
- Ability to work extended hours to meet business needs leading up to and during the Games.
