Pay Range: $80,000-100,000
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Manager will oversee accounting operations and drive financial excellence in a fun, innovative, and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing accounting functions, including general ledger (GL), accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll. Experience with payroll or UKG payroll systems implementation is highly desirable. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for process improvement.
Responsibilities & Duties
Financial Management
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, and payroll.
- Responsible for the month-end close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and other month-end close tasks.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Prepares monthly variance financial reports.
- In addition to day-to-day general ledger responsibilities, this role supports accounts receivable by making bank deposits and has a significant role in processing accounts payable invoices.
- Serves as a backup resource, if needed, to ensure uninterrupted processing of AR, AP, and payroll.
- Perform all other job duties as assigned.
Payroll Management
- Manage and oversee the organization’s payroll function using its HRIS/payroll system, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Collaborates with the payroll accountant and HR department to resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll questions.
System Implementation and Process Improvement
- Identify and drive process or system improvements to enhance efficiency of our financial operations.
Audit and Compliance
- Support audit process and help prepare audit schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit and compliance purposes.
Team Management
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend training as needed.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the Accounting function.
- CPA and nonprofit experience preferred, but not required.

- Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition, and proof of current CA drivers license.

Position Requirements
- Must have strong knowledge of GAAP and a thorough understanding of the Accounting process.
- Computer literacy is mandatory and spreadsheet experience is a plus.
- This position requires a special aptitude for accuracy, organizational skills, and good interpersonal relations.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Acceptable DMV record.
Work Requirements
The Accounting Manager must have the ability to learn the policies, procedures, activities and programs of the Accounting Department quickly and accurately. He/she must be able to type at an acceptable rate of speed, maintain records and files including alpha, numeric and chronological records, and be able to understand and follow oral and written directions.
He/she must successfully complete all applicable Adjoin training programs as assigned.
The Accounting Manager will normally spend long periods of time in a sitting position (85% of day). He/she will use a computer, which will involve repetitive hand and wrist motion for most of the workday (85% of day). He/she must be able to see the computer screen and will be expected to spend extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor (85% of day). Since the position calls for interacting with other offices, the Accounting Manager must have the ability to talk and hear. He/she must be able to lift 15 pounds. Other physical exertion could involve climbing stairs, stretching, bending, and etc.
The Accounting Manager may be required to make trips outside his/her office where no regular means of public transportation exists. A reliable means of transportation, valid California licensing and insurance is required.
