The is responsible for procuring goods and services, including warehouse inventory items, direct receiving items and special project purchases; exercises buying responsibilities and judgment based on the best value, considering quantity, quality, and service.
- Identifies product specifications to obtain pricing.
- Reviews requisitions, contact vendors, and purchase goods based upon agreed upon price, quantity, and quality, ensuring timely procurement of goods at price/value to meet the needs of client departments.
- Communicates and coordinates with user departments to understand needs, and anticipate and resolve issues, ensuring customer satisfaction and that purchasing services meet the needs of the organization.
- Solicits bids on items from sources of supply to determine a reasonable price, acceptable size, available discounts and shipping and handling charges. Reviews bid for all major purchases to ensure securing the most advantageous deal in relation to price, quantity, quality, service level, and delivery schedule.
- Researches and communicates with existing and potential vendors to cultivate working relationships and develop most advantageous price and service agreements.
- Reviews inventory (such as office supplies and non-food items) and places orders to maintain par levels of inventory which best meet user's requirements.
- Works with vendors to resolve discrepancies, return items, and coordinate delivery schedules to ensure timely delivery of quality product that meets the user department needs.
- Ensures that requests for purchases are properly documented and approved prior to distribution.
- Evaluates products to determine conformance to product specifications
- Maintains and updates vendor contact information, files, and bids.
- Deals skillfully and tactfully with suppliers.
- Maintains STRICT confidentiality of internal activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- College degree in business administration or closely related field in addition to 1 year of related experience preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a purchasing function.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; and automated financial systems.
Knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures including open market purchasing and formal contracting and negotiating techniques.
Salary : $55,800 - $70,600
