Job Description Summary
Implements the analysis for a small product line by garnering feedback from product sales, marketing, and customers to understand market dynamics. Works closely with the development team to ensure product specifications meet customer demands.
- Direct all manufacturing operations in the plant and coordinate the work of production departments through familiarity with all manufacturing processes. Be continually aware of customer shipping requirements, work schedules, and quality levels and of the staffing required to meet these schedules. Know the ratio of indirect to direct labor and the overall costs of doing business with a mind toward profit and loss. Ensure that quality is maintained and that costs are held to a minimum.
- Motivate and direct the training of all manufacturing personnel. Select competent personnel, train and develop each individual by taking advantage of strengths and improving on weakness, and instill in each individual a sense of responsibility toward the company and subordinates. Evaluate the progress of personnel.
- Analyze and determine material, equipment, and staffing requirements. Study daily operating results. Meet daily with subordinates and have daily contact with various department heads. Determine how to overcome production problems and follow-up to ensure that problems have been corrected or to determine the next best course of action. Attempt to bring about close cooperation between departments.
- Establish individual personnel objectives through analysis of and familiarity with each individual’s job functions. Help develop employee potential for promotion, ensure the availability for qualified managerial staffing, and ensure consistently high use of individual, managerial capabilities.
- Obtain from Production Control and analysis of sales volume by part number and a list of the requirements of machine hours by type of machine. Consult with the Plant accountant to develop annual operating budgets and controls. Supply Accounting with staffing requirements for costing-out to determine annual profit plan. Give accounting monthly labor-hour estimates of indirect and direct labor for forecasting profit by the month. Determine purchase burden on supplies and materials to ensure proper and accurate cost control and accounting.
- Conduct plant inspections to ensure safe work practices. Make recommendations by memos, personal guidance, and, if necessary, corrective action. Ensure that procedures and practices are being followed to help prevent accidents. Responsible for compliance to OSHA.
- Consult with Business Unit Manager and department heads on all major cost-reduction projects. Discuss and determine the projects’ feasibility, work out details, and measure the results of the projects.
- Coordinate with service department in the timely resolution of production problems and schedules and in determining machinery and staffing requirements necessary for efficiency and cost control.
- Supervise Superintendents.
- Demonstrates ability to practice and coach Lean principles and has firm understanding and practices good problem solving methods
- Must be willing to report unsafe conditions, reporting unsafe acts, participating in safety/ergo committees, participating in safety Kaizen events, participating in blue sky initiatives, participating in safety audits, and participating in safety observation feedback events.
- Participate in communications events such as plant wide meetings, line meetings, department meetings, and training exercises.
- Assist the plant in achieving safety goals and achieving and maintaining AMS objectives.
- Will follow and promote environmental management system compliance and commitment to resource conservation.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
Seven (7) to (10) years in automotive industry in various supervisor and management capacities.
