What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Adopt Technologies?

The Controller will manage accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL and revenue recognition. The Controller maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, will support month, quarter, and year-end close process. This position will also work on any other initiative and ongoing projects as assigned in addition to any other duties the Company may assign. This position reports directly to the SVP, Finance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Controller will hire, train, and coach a team of accounting staff. The position will also recommend hiring, terminations, and discipline of employees in accordance with company policy and applicable state and federal laws.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
  • Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP accounting and revenue standards
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  • In conjunction with the SVP of Finance, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on monthly, and annual basis
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
  • Strong working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
  • Exemplary history of financial project management
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
  • Proven experience with accounting software
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • NetSuite experience recommended
Education and Experience:
  • 5 years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
  • Advanced degree in accounting, finance or business preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
