What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at ADP Resources, LLC?
ADP Resources LLC is a specialized consulting and design firm based in Dallas, Oregon. We offer outside plant engineering, CAD/GIS design services, permit services and personnel services for customers and the telecommunication industry.
We have an immediate need and are looking to add a Field Technician based in Reno to our OSP (Outside Plant) Department.
What you will do:
This position will gather information used in the planning of cable installation for clients and submit documents for construction-related permits for telecom projects. Work includes submitting necessary information and tracking and completing processes related to meet critical design due dates and working with staff, customers, contractors, and pole owners.
Duties include locating, sketching and documenting detailed information of projects, (cables, poles, ground structures, terminals, manholes, etc.); Entering numerical and specialized data and information, (measurements, photos, geographic information, violation language, etc.) received in various formats and aps, including Google Earth/Google Maps, to the company database using a laptop and MS programs.
Minimum requirements:
Ø High school diploma or GED
Ø Minimum eighteen (18) years of age
Ø Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record to drive company vehicle multiple days per week
Ø Ability to solve basic mathematical problems and make correct math calculations
Ø Experience using a computer and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Access
Ø Proficient in the operation of a smart phone; able to use applications related to the position
Ø Ability to travel and be on the road for an extended amounts of time and to work a varying schedule to meet the needs of the client including occasional evening and weekend work
Ø Ability to travel out of state for up to 2-weeks at a time, periodically through the year (per-diem and accommodations provided)
Beneficial knowledge areas include:
Experience or familiarity within telecommunication construction, or aerial or underground utilities
Knowledge and experience working with (Fiber, Copper and Coax)
Ability to read and understanding blueprints and drawings
Knowledge of NESC requirements
Experience in outside plant or mapping operations for fiber optic networks.
Experience interacting with landowners, engineering, zoning, or construction departments.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated; able to work independent of daily supervision; detailed oriented and organized; an excellent communicator with verbal and listening skills; able to multi-task and change directives quickly. This person is self-motivated, has a willingness to learn and self-reliance to solve problems through asking questions.
Employer notes:
Employment is contingent upon successful outcome of a DMV records check, background criminal history check and 5-panel drug screening, required for employment.
A basic math and computer skills test will be part of the interview process
The selected applicant will be asked to provide a copy of their DMV record after the position has been offered.
Working conditions:
Work requires the ability to intermittently walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach while performing duties in all types of weather
Walking for two (2) or more miles per day carrying equipment
Ability to sit for long periods and drive up to 50% of the time
Able to lift and maneuver up to (50) fifty pounds occasionally
