In this role, you will guide us from our on-prem ETL and Data environment to the cloud (Python, Databricks, AWS). You will lead a team of data engineers as they transition from traditional on-prem data engineering tools and platforms to the cloud. You will well help design and develop the new cloud ETL tools, CI/CD processes and data architecture.
No two days are the same. You will work on a team of passionate, driven data engineers and interact with many other technical teams as well as business units. You will work in an Agile environment where you will be encouraged to try new things and where it’s OK to make mistakes.
To thrive in this role, you will need to be familiar with the cloud technologies and tools that are used to build and maintain data lakehouses but also be familiar with traditional data warehouse concepts and techniques. You will also like to coach and teach other team members as they progress along their cloud learning curve. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Here's what you can expect on a typical day in the life of a Lead Cloud Data Engineer at ADP.
- You’ll start each day with a stand up, see where the team is at, help them with any issues they are having and making sure they are heading in the right direction. Our teams are self-organizing, and everyone has an interest in helping each other succeed. You will participate in other Agile ceremonies at the end and beginning of each two-week sprint.
- Variety of work. There is no typical day. You may be architecting the new environment, designing a new CI/CD process, developing new ETL scripts, talking to stakeholders or any other task associated with what we are trying to do.
- Things are always changing in the cloud environment so there is always something new to learn. You will also be interacting with lots of other extremely intelligent and experience cloud data engineers who will also teach you some new tricks.
- You will be consistently challenged. It could be a technical challenge, a challenge helping other teammates to understand something or trying to explain a technical concept to a stakeholder in terms they will understand.
A college degree or equivalent is required. What's more important is having the skills and experience to do the job. To be successful in this role, you'll have a minimum of two years of experience in the same or similar role.
TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
- 4 years of experience with Python, SQL and working in an AWS data environment (EC2, S3, DynamoDB, Glue, IAM, Security Groups, VPC).
- 2 years of experience with Spark, Airflow, Bitbucket, PySpark, Jenkins, and Databricks or similar tools or technologies.
- An understanding of the traditional data warehouse environment, concepts, and techniques.
