What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical secretary / optometric technician position at Advanced Clinical Eye Care?
We have a full-time position available for a medical secretary / technician to join a fast-paced, team-oriented optometric practice. We provide patients with the absolute best in quality eye care, and as a part of our team you will be cross trained with the knowledge to operate a front desk as well as perform crucial tests necessary for patients to proceed to an exam with our optometrist. You also assist the optometrist during the exams, which requires you to use a variety of optometric equipment.
Shift hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm. There is also one Saturday a month required from 8:30am-4pm. On the week of Saturday clinic you will have the prior Monday off, therefore never working a 6-day work week.

Snapshot of tasks include routine secretarial duties as well as conducting basic pre-testing, advanced diagnostic testing and imaging, and medical history documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide superb customer service to every patient, whether in person, over the phone, or in emails/text messages. This includes but is not limited to checking patients in or out and scheduling appointments.
- Operate optometric diagnostic equipment, including corneal topographers and retinal cameras.
- Communicate with local ophthalmology practices to refer patients.
- Multitask while maintaining close attention to detail.
- Clean and sterilize equipment as necessary.
- Communicate pertinent patient information to the optometrist.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Proficiency with PC computers and computer-based software such as Google Suite, electronic health records, web-based ordering platforms, etc.
- Friendly demeanor and professional appearance.
- Ability to work autonomously using sound judgement.
