The role of Mechatronics Engineer is manufacturing engineering focused and works collaboratively with Concurrent Engineering teams in a cross-functional capacity, applying mechanical, electrical, and firmware/software engineering to support the development and production launch of new products and processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Designs and influences design-for-manufacturing attributes within the Concurrent Engineering development process, and all related DFx strategies such as design-for-assembly, cost, testability, serviceability, and automation.
- Develops and manages requirements and associated development/deployment plans in preparation for production ramp of new products
- Design, build, and deploy assembly, calibration, test, and automation systems, which may include motion control, visions systems, robotics, wireless communications, pneumatics, PLCs, fixtures and tooling.
- Collaborate broadly throughout the organization with NPI Engineering, Production personnel, Quality & Supply Chain Engineers to identify opportunities for automation within existing manufacturing process
- Evaluate and recommend production and automation architectures and develops business case proposals that address capital expense investment, ROI, resource impact, facilities requirements, and schedule
- Develop and document new processes and provides training to production staff
- Creates acceptance criteria and conducts acceptance testing for process validation
Qualifications:
Essential:
- BS degree in Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, EE, ME, or a related field with 5 years relevant work experience
- Experience with Design for Automation, Manufacturability, Assembly, and Cost
- Experience with programming languages, such as C/C , LabVIEW, Python, or Visual Basic
- SolidWorks CAD design and drafting
- Electrical hardware circuit design
- Self-starter, highly motivated, exceptional character, and extremely collaborative
- Comfortable with fast pace, constant change, and supporting multiple projects
- Ability to quickly identify and conceptualize creative ideas to solving problems
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
- Ability to perform facilities, work center, and line flow charting & layouts

- Manufacturing of wearable electronics, robotics & exoskeleton, soft goods, vision systems
- Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (pFMEA)
- Machine Learning in Automation
- Experience driving organizational change
