Job Title: Regulatory & Certification Engineer

About this position
Advantech is seeking a motivated, high-energy engineer with experience in regulatory & certification for computer-based products to join our project development and solutions team in Irvine, CA. The ideal candidate will manage and oversee certification requirements for our organizational projects and will have proven experience related to regulatory and certification for information and communication technology equipment. We are looking for a candidate that has the ability to effectively plan and organize assignments with little supervision, manage priorities, handle reporting channels, and also possess strong analytical, written, verbal, and problem solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Take lead in company product regulatory and certification activities not limited to: preparing, submitting, reviewing, and collecting documentation & technical files. This may include applications, quotes, reports, certificates, and answering for the company’s product regulatory and certification program.
- Organize and maintain all regulatory and certification documents in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
- Provide input on pertinent regulatory and certification requirements during product development stage
- Manage technical issues related to regulatory certification in regards to product design and manufacturing
- Oversee and manage product certification testing by outside laboratories
- Periodically advise and conduct in-house training to product managers, engineers, manufacturing, and other business development personnel on certification & ISO related matters
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements described below are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Ability to push/pull/lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to sit and/or stand for 8-hours at a time
Required Qualifications:
- BSEE from an accredited university (or equivalent work experience)
- 3 years’ working in product regulatory & certification environment
- Capable of installing & integrating printed circuit boards and electrical components into fabricated enclosures
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities desired, including presentation skills
- Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques in reaching solutions
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, and MS Project
- Able to quickly and clearly communicate issues, options, and recommendations to technical team members
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skill
- Attention to detail and deadlines
- Some travel required to outside testing labs, customer sites, and manufacturing facilities located in the U.S. or Asia (up to 10%)
- FCC/CE/UL/ETL certification experience
