DIRECT HIRE | Utility Technician | Sycamore/DeKalb, IL area
Responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of plant utility systems including air compressors, chillers, fire tube boilers, clarifiers and filter presses, fire suppression systems, RO systems, and HVAC equipment.

- Anticipate $30-36 per hour
- Anticipate 45-55 hours per week (OT)
- Typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 6am-4:30pm
- Position is UNION once employees complete 90-day probationary period
- Follow Maintenance Supervisor directives for daily tasks and projects.
- Repair utility equipment using mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical skills.
- Address root causes of equipment defects to restore functionality.
- Document work, labor, and parts usage in the CMMS system.
- Ensure compliance with local reporting and operating requirements.
- Assist in adhering to PM schedules and critical maintenance tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Perform maintenance and overhauls of utility equipment.
- Coordinate contractor support for major overhauls and repairs.
- Conduct daily tests, water chemistry analysis, and log results.
- Follow Lock Out Tag Out Procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 5 years of experience with plant utility systems (compressors, boilers, fire suppression systems, HVAC, etc.).
- Ability to obtain a boiler operator license within 6 months.
- Class K wastewater certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, PIDs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in troubleshooting heating and cooling systems.
- Experience with CMMS systems.
- Ability to work individually and in a team.
- Currently employed in a plant utility maintenance role.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-year vocational or trade school certificate in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or related fields preferred.
- OSHA 10-hour certification.
