Vice President of Logistics
Role Summary
Our client is seeking a Vice President of Logistics to join their rapidly growing team. The Vice President of Logistics is accountable for directing the company’s supply chain performance, logistics strategy, and transportation planning. This role ensures compliance with all inbound/outbound and domestic/international guidelines.
Key Results Areas
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop and implement strategies and process improvements to ensure proper flow of inventory, improved service levels, and cost reductions across the supply chain
Oversee the day-to-day operations of inbound and outbound transportation for the Distribution Center and Stores, ensuring best practices are implemented in all areas
Leads negotiations of small parcel, LTL, FTL, Import Ocean and Air Rates
Partner with Finance to develop strategies, financial plans, and capex budgets; deliver positive financial KPIs and budget results
Accountable for updates to Customs, Compliance Manual, and Import Routing Guide
Prepares and monitors freight budgets and projections
Oversees freight payment and claims as well as reporting of freight costs and availability
Accountable for corporate CTPAT compliance as well as other CBP requirements
Serves as subject matter expert for Import, Export, Drawback, and First Sale programs
Directs import consolidation programs, including the development and distribution of reports
Develop Logistics requirements for new corporate programs, International Shipping, and use of 3rd Party DCs
Directs relationships with Third-party providers, including consolidators, import brokers, freight payment providers, and warehouses
Updates Senior Management on both local and international Supply Chain issues such as strikes, port congestion, and other potential delays, as well as changes in export/import regulations
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
10 years of experience in management/leadership roles
15 years of experience in retail or consumer Logistics
Previous retail and e-commerce experience preferred
Advanced knowledge of Transportation Management Systems, including key transportation and supply chain metrics
Customs Brokers License, preferred
Previous successful negotiation of multi-million-dollar small package and ocean agreements
Intermediate familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Able to advocate for one's point of view while understanding when to accept an alternate solution.
Capable of motivating and guiding a team to meet department and company goals through inspiring, coaching, and developing others
Able to proactively identify issues and opportunities, using creative thinking to identify practical solutions
Previous experience in building strong partnerships with external vendors, enabling productive and collaborative negotiations
