The role you’ll contribute:
The Executive Director, Risk and Insurance Services is responsible for controlling, directing, organizing, planning and management of all aspects of an comprehensive system-wide risk financing, insurance procurement, underwriting and data analytics program. This includes day-to-day management of all self and commercial insurance coverage across the system including renewals and actuarial processes, management of all underwriting activities for employed physicians and Advance Practice Providers, contract review for insurance and indemnification language and development of procedures, protocols and additional items to govern the provision of risk management and insurance services across the system. This role requires strong communication and data analysis skills for corporate leadership report out conversations and driving results. This role also requires extensive knowledge of risk management practices to include managing and maintaining appropriate insurance coverage and self-insurance funding, insurance renewal strategy and management, issuance of certificates of insurance, and managing a comprehensive Risk Management Information System.

- Set strategic goals and determine operational activities to accomplish business objectives in direct partnership with the Vice President Risk Management – Chief Risk Officer
- Perform all risk financing and insurance procurement functions for the system and its entities for all lines of coverage in collaboration with Vice President Risk Management – Chief Risk Officer to ensure that all insurable risks are identified and addressed
- Lead, plan, and evaluate day-to-day operations of a system-wide insurance program
- Develop and implement programs to protect the assets of the system through risk retention or risk transfer
- Collaborate with Corporate Services Legal, Corporate Responsibility and other corporate and facility personnel to review and revise contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure the presence of appropriate insurance and indemnification language as well as continuity with self-insured programs and commercial insurance policies
- Work with insurance brokers, carriers, facility personnel and others to timely and accurately ensure the collection of data for renewals, completion of insurance applications, evaluation of coverage options and binding of coverage
- Direct the management of the AdventHealth Risk Management Information System (RMIS) and provide strategic planning and direction regarding the content, design and maintenance of the system
- Direct and manage the underwriting and approval processes for all employed physicians and Advance Practice Providers to receive Professional Liability coverage under the AdventHealth Liability Trust as well as development and implementation of specific underwriting criteria, policies and procedures
- Analyze and interpret professional liability, general liability and workers' compensation claims and risk-related data for multiple purposes including participation in external benchmarking studies
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- Master's degree in related discipline (e.g. Risk Management, Insurance, Accounting, Finance, etc.)
- At least 7 years of healthcare risk management or related experience required
- At least 5 years of experience in leadership/managerial positions
- Risk Management certification (e.g. ARM, FASHRM or DFASHRM)
Preferred qualifications:
- Graduate degree (e.g. Masters of Healthcare Administration, Juris Doctor, etc.)
- Insurance industry experience
Clinical healthcare experience
