Established in 1908, AdventHealth is one of the largest non-profit healthcare systems in the country, caring for more than a million patients each year. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position at AdventHealth Avista located in Louisville, CO.

General Summary:
Reporting to the President/CEO, the CFO is responsible for planning and controlling all financial activities for the hospital while maintaining compliance with overall policies in accordance with financial management regulatory agencies, principles, and practices appropriate for the healthcare industry and non-profit organizations. Serves as the financial counselor/advisor for the organization. The CFO plans, organizes, and administers the institution-wide program of financial management reporting and managed care contracting to best meet the strategic objectives of the organization. He/she has a dotted line reporting relationship to the regional financial leadership.
Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate financial policies, processes, function and performance
Develop and provide accurate and timely operating and capital budgets, financial analysis and trends, financial statements, and reports
Develop, enhance, implement, and enforce all accounting internal control policies, procedures and systems
Advise on financial perspective and monitor all contract negotiations
Participate in the monthly financial statement preparation process by accumulation of documentation to support monthly journal entries (for the following areas: contractual allowances using the established format, bad debt allowances using the established format, analysis and transfer of construction-in-progress, non-system generated accruals, and accruals for miscellaneous non-patient billings.
Maintain current and evaluate need for additional insurance protection to minimize risk
Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
Develop, evaluate and advise on long range financial plans, programs and strategies
Participate in overall strategic planning for organization
Participate in employment and performance review of finance staff
Advise on financial perspective to the position control process
Support designated operating group management by analyzing operating performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and determining actions to be taken to meet performance targets.
Provide technical financial advice, guidance and knowledge to leadership team, department management and finance staff
Maintain relationships with external auditor and financial consultants
Experience, Education and Licensure/Certification Required:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, healthcare administration, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare finance experience
Experience, Education and Licensure Preferred:
Master's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field
10 years in a senior financial management position
