Work Hours/Shift
Full time days; Mon thru Thurs 8 to 5, Fri 8 to 1
You Will Be Responsible For
- Schedule all surgeries and coordinate all pieces of the surgery including special equipment needs, surgical assists and other aspects of the surgery as defined by the ordering surgeon.
- Obtain pre-authorization for all surgeries.
- Provide patient with pre-surgical special instructions and information regarding surgery.
- Contact hospital to schedule patient surgery time per physician instructions.
- Ensure required testing and appointments are finalized prior to next appointment date or surgery.
- Verify benefits for all pregnancy patients.
- Calculate and set-up pregnancy pre-payment plans and enter into Athena system.
- Perform face to face financial counseling with all surgical, birth control device, and pregnancy patients to inform them of pre-payment and patient portion amounts.
- Arrange payment plans with surgical and pregnancy patients.
- Verify insurance and perform pre-authorization for all birth control devices.
- Order birth control devices per patient.
- Calculate and set-up birth control device pre-payment plans and enter into Athena system.
- Schedule patients for birth control device placement.
- Answer telephone in a professional and polite manner, communicate information to appropriate personnel. Respond to voicemail messages promptly.
- Update information in the computer system for patients.
- Interact professionally with physicians, patients/families and healthcare staff.
- Maintain a good working relationship within the clinic and with hospital departments.
- Call patients to remind them of their scheduled surgeries 48 hours prior to surgical time.
- Assist front desk with checking patients in, scheduling patients, etc. as needed.
- Perform other clinic responsibilities as directed.
What You Will Need
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 3 years medical office experience required
- Previous surgery scheduling experience preferred.
- Previous benefit verification and financial counseling experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
Job Summary
Responsible for scheduling all surgeries, pre-authorizing all surgeries, verify benefits for all pregnant patients, calculate and set up pregnancy pre-payment plans and enter into practice management system, perform face to face financial counseling with all pregnancy and surgical patients regarding their surgical and OB pre-payment amounts. Perform other secretarial/clerical duties as requested.
