We're looking for someone to join our team as a Quality & Risk Analyst who: assists in measuring and analyzing data to improve the culture of safety, quality of patient care, and cost efficiency for the organization. Serves as an influential resource to staff relative to risk management, compliance, and safety issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Implements and maintains risk management activities with medical staff, legal counsel, patient representative, administration, ancillary staff, clinical staff and nursing. Manipulates and analyses data quickly and efficiently to produce reports. Creates specialized clinical, non-clinical or stand-alone database applications (i.e., Access) for assigned projects.
- Acts as a liaison between the Risk Management Department, hospital departments, external insurance and legal representatives. Works with various departments, helps to develop a culture that fosters self-identification of issues; acts as an advisor to leaders. Provides ad-hoc support to audit engagement teams and facilitates information and work flows between departments.
- Acts as business advisory in how to avoid, reduce, and transfer risk that could impact profitability, operations, and objectives. Presents in ministry-wide, departmental and office risk management meetings and coordinates educational activities for new employee orientation, departments and medical staff.
- Manages the Medical Risk Management program, including the development of risk management education, implementation and audits. Constructs periodic risk assessments of operational areas to identify areas of risk, including the documentation of risks, identification of risk owners, measurements of risks and facilitation of appropriate risk treatment plans.
- Helps to maintain systems which are used to facilitate adherence to various compliance regulations. Manages the Occurrence Reporting Program (including event categorization and user access). Analyzes current and past trends in Occurrence Reporting. Identifies safety issues and partners with business process owners on the root cause analysis and corrective action plans of identified issues.
- Provides assistance during claim/suit processing. Conducts document searches for use in defense preparation. Coordinates, schedules and prepares medical staff and hospital staff, for preparation of depositions, legal interviews, and subpoenas. Uses a variety of Ministry sources to acquire information needed to support defense counsels' representation of Ministry interests. Participates in the defense preparation and monitoring of medical malpractice and general liability claims, including the coordination of legal defense materials in response to Interrogatories and Production requests.
