Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemist for employment in the Chelmsford or Boston, MA offices. This person will be working with and in support of Federal project managers and project assistants. The right candidate will have regulatory experience in environmental chemistry, including environmental sampling and analytical methods, writing CERCLA Sampling and Analysis Plans and UFP-QAPPs for EPA and DoD clients, data validation, and familiarity with EPA’s contract laboratory program.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Utilize scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and, federal regulations to ensure compliance
Work with minimal supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Prepare project work plans, specifically UFP-QAPPs
Ensure project- and QAPP-specific data requirements are met
Perform data review and data validation for multi-media data
Coordination of analytical services with laboratories
Ensure project-specific data requirements are met
Support field efforts by preparing sampling plans and field documentation
Manage data flow from the laboratory to final reporting
Research environmental laboratory practices and methodologies
Prepare proposals, procure oversee laboratory services and invoice approvals
Conduct field and laboratory technical system audits
Prepare technical reports and papers
Coordinate with end users define data quality requirements and to help assure that data are usable and meet end-use objectives
Setting up lab contracts
Reporting and coordinating the proper deliverables including EQuIS EDDs
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS and 4 years of experience or demonstrated relevant equivalency of experience and/or education
Due to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is required
Must possess a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience writing CERCLA Sampling and Analysis Plans for EPA and DoD clients
Knowledge of chemistry principles
Experience working on Superfund Sites for federal clients
Working knowledge of instrumentation used for environmental analysis (i.e. GC/MS, ICP, GC-ECD, IC, etc.)
Proficient in standard office computer applications and software, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
Position requires analytical and interpersonal skills, and solid planning and organizational skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Understanding of the Department of Defense (DoD) Quality Systems Manual and the ability to interpret analytical data packages for compliance with analytical protocols and quality assurance project plans is desired
Ability to obtain 40 hour HAZWOPER training
Ability to travel 10-25% and work outdoors as needed
Required to intermittently drive company or rental vehicles for work
Master’s degree in Chemistry or other related field
Prior experience in laboratory or environmental chemistry
General experience with EQuIS or other environmental data management software; including loading EDDs, setting up new sites, creating automated reports, using Sample Planning module, setting up EQuIS Collect, setting up EQuIS enterprise dashboards

Compensation
Exempt Position: The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - 110,000
