Job Description
Ports and Marine Civil Director
AECOM’s Ports and Marine Team in South Florida has an immediate opening for a highly experienced Civil Director to play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of existing projects and upcoming opportunities. This role offers a client-facing leadership position, including design delivery, project management, and will require strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills to effectively engage and guide project delivery teams, while working closely with port clients.
As the Ports and Marine Civil Director, you will coordinate and provide technical oversight and guidance to teams for mid to large-size projects. You will also manage client relationships and contribute to business development efforts. This position is based in South Florida and assumes responsibility for managing port/marine civil infrastructure projects, continuing to develop AECOM Florida's ports client relationships, and identifying new port and marine project opportunities in collaboration with AECOM's National Marine and Ports business development team.
Responsibilities:
Provide engineering technical and management leadership for ports and marine civil projects.
Manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Develop and maintain extensive contacts with senior-level engineers within AECOM, as well as key engineering officials, clients, and other organizations and companies. Possess strong persuasion and negotiation skills to handle critical issues.
Identify problems, verify the accuracy and relevance of information, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations based on sound judgment.
Assist in establishing and nurturing new client relationships, as well as strengthening existing ones. Possess a clear understanding of clients' key requirements.
Demonstrate commercial awareness and a deep understanding of factors that impact risk and profitability.
Exhibit strong team leadership skills, being a self-starter who is proactive and energetic.
Manage project relationships, including client communication and interaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Oversee the delivery of design and project management services, ensuring high-quality and timely execution.
Collaborate with the business development team to identify and pursue new business opportunities in the ports and marine sector.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to deliver innovative solutions to clients.
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
Represent AECOM at industry conferences and events to promote the company's expertise in ports and marine civil engineering.
Qualifications
Minimum;
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering/ Maritime Engineering or related field
Professional Engineer with ability to obtain FL PE within 12 months, if not a Florida PE
Twelve (12) years of related project management experience in a variety of seaport, waterfront, coastal and waterways related infrastructure; or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education and 4 years of marine project leadership
Preferred :
MS Civil or Ocean Engineering
Project engineering or project management experience in a variety of ports and marine related infrastructure such as coastal protection, in-water infrastructure, dredging, waterfront and marine terminal development, and port facilities
Previous experience in leading projects to required quality, timeliness, and budget parameters
Previous experience in maintaining client relationships
Experienced in planning, design, and construction management
Experience in client presentation and communications in English
Experience in report and proposal writing skills in English

The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $150,000.00 to $230,000.
